In December 2017, Professor Andrew Ross (NYU Social and Cultural Analysis) proposed the motion "NYU Abu Dhabi was a Mistake", and was opposed by Professor Shamoon Zamir (NYU Abu Dhabi Arts and Humanities). Ross was supported by Sam Raskin (College of Arts and Science), and Zamir was joined by Louis W. Bartholomew (College of Arts and Science). The motion was defeated. 

In November 2017, Professor Michael Shenefelt (NYU Liberal Studies) joined us to propose the motion "Referendums Are a Threat to Democracy". He was supported by Milad Mohammadi (College of Arts and Science), and opposed by Anand Balaji (Stern) and Louis W. Bartholomew (College of Arts and Science). The motion was defeated. 

Held in the days following the 2016 Presidential Election, this discussion was on issues of foreign and economic policy, LGBTQ rights, religion, and the Supreme Court. Mary Kissel (Wall Street Journal) and Professor Patrick Egan (NYU Politics) joined our President, Dino Ilievski. 

In November 2016, Dr. Sherry Glied (Dean, NYU Wagner) joined us to propose the motion "The Affordable Care Act Has Not Failed". She was supported by Deepak Warrier (Liberal Studies), and opposed by Sofiya Andreyeva (College of Arts and Science) and Ella Kuzmenko (College of Arts and Science). The motion was carried.

In October 2016, James Traub (New York Times/Foreign Policy) proposed the motion "The United States Should End the War on Terror". He was supported by Thomas Resnick (Gallatin), and opposed by Hamza bin Mazhar (Stern) and Akash Lodh (College of Arts and Science). The motion was carried.
